Business Excellence
Hutt City Council has implemented a business excellence programme to improve service to customers and measure the council's performance against internationally recognised best practice. As part of this programme, the council submits applications to qualified assessors in order to gauge progress and maintain a continuous cycle of improvement.
In 2002 Hutt City Council was the winner of the local government category of the Performance Excellence Study Awards.
In 2004 Hutt City Council won a Commendation Award from the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation. This result has only been exceeded by one local authority and eight other organisations in the history of the New Zealand award programme.
In 2006 Hutt City Council won a Achievement Award (silver) from the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation. Hutt City Council is the only Local Authority that has achieved a Silver Award from the prestigious New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation.
