Our Collection
Who can use the Archives?
The Archives can be used by anyone interested in Hutt City's people, places and events.
To make an enquiry
- Contact the Archivist by phoning 04 589 0460 or email Archivist@huttcity.govt.nz
- Provide details of your enquiry and your contact details.
The Archivist
- Undertakes an initial search of databases, indexes, lists and archives.
- Reports the results of the search to you.
- Suggests other sources or Archives which may be useful for your enquiry.
- Arranges an appointment time for you to visit and view archives at the Archives Reading Room at 487 Hutt Road, Lower Hutt.
- Arranges photocopying of archives sized A3-A4 - dependent on the condition of the original and copyright rules.
Your enquiry will be answered as quickly as possible, the response time may vary depending on the availability of staff. In accordance with the Privacy Act and other legislation, access to some information is restricted and cannot be released.

The Reading room facility is available for research on a pre-arranged appointment basis only.
