What to include in your application

Cover Letter

Let us know why you are applying for the job and how your skills meet the requirements of the role. Also, show how your values are aligned to Hutt City Council’s RITE values.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

This should include your employment history, your education, training, qualifications gained, skills, strengths and abilities relevant to the role. Please provide dates, referees and current contact details.

Application Form

Please complete this Application Form and attach to the Cover letter and CV.

Job Interview Process

The interview will involve a panel made up of at least two HCC staff who will ask behavioural type questions. This involves specific examples of past behaviours that relate to the requirements of the role. You will have an opportunity to ask questions.

In some instances, you may also be required to come in for a second interview or an informal follow up with other people from HCC. This gives us an opportunity to ask you further questions and gives you a chance to meet the team.

There may be job-specific testing for certain roles. For some specialised roles some pre employment checks may be required. You will be advised of this at the time of your interview.

All shortlisted applicants will be informed whether their application has been successful or not as soon as possible after their interview.

We keep all personal information you provided us (your cover letter, CV and application form) for three months after the application close date. At this time all personal information about any unsuccessful applicants is destroyed.
