• What attracted you to the role?


The ability to get out and about in the field as well as office requirements.
Dealing with Court Prosecutions as my previous role was with the District Court, Lower Hutt

 

• What does your job involve – day to day things?


Preparing prosecution files for court hearings, general monitoring and enforcement of legislation breaches, talking to the general public and agencies re issues with dogs or stock, responding to complaints re dogs and stock, patrolling designated areas for legislation breaches. Completing paper work requirements.

 

• Things about the job that you enjoy the most…


Working within a team, dealing with dangerous dogs, the variety of work- no day is the same.

 

• What is your view of the main benefits of working at HCC / in Lower Hutt?


Flexible work practices, 60% field work and 40% office work, meeting a wide range of people, having a lot of social activities within the organisation re sports teams and social events.

 

• What skills & attributes do you think someone will need to do your job?


The ability to communicate and interact with people from all walks of life, to be able to function in a team environment and be a team player, being firm but fair and not taking negative comments from the public personally, a sound knowledge of IT and office procedures, being confident in interpreting and dealing with legislation. Work stays at work.
