TheNewDowse Art Museum has an ever changing display of contemporary works from New Zealand and abroad. The Dowse is located on Laings Road in the city's Civic Centre and has an excellent cafe on site.

The Petone Settlers Museum is located on the Esplanade, on Petone's foreshore. The museum provides an interesting insight into the migration and settlement of people into our region.

The Wainuiomata museum is run by the local Historical Society and is open each Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. Entry is by donation. This museum is situated within two classrooms in the grounds of Wainuiomata School in Homedale Road. One room has been retained as a period classroom, while the other contains museum articles depicting life in the Wainuiomata valley in years gone by.
