Huia’s New Inflatable Named

Joan Soane, aged 5, from Korokoro submitted the winning name for Huia’s new inflatable. It will be known as the Huia Aqua-Tak. Joan came up with the name with the help of her sister, because “you need to attack adventure equipment on the water.” Joan wins an exclusive pool party at Huia for up to 50 friends including use of the main and learners’ pool, new Huia Aqua-Tak, Freckles The Friendly Dragon, water toys, flying fox, slides and water features.
The Huia Aqua-Tak is an obstacle course on water and provides a real challenge for children aged 9 – 16 years. Once on the launch pad children tackle a rope swing, battle their way through six circular rods, balance across a bridge, climb up a rope ladder and down the 2.5m high ‘super’ slide at the end.
Children got the chance to test the inflatable at the Inflate-a-Bubble Funday during the last school holidays and the response from the keen adventure seekers was “awesome!”
The Huia complex can be booked for groups and birthday parties, including exclusive use of the new Aqua-Tak, with rates starting at $120 per hour. You can check out the new Huia Aqua-Tak during the summer school holidays.
Huia Pool Wins Award

Congratulations to Huia Pool winners of the 2006 SPARC Win/Win Facility Award. The award was announced at the New Zealand Recreation Association National Conference in Auckland, 15 to 17 November 2006.
The facility award recognises excellence, innovation and teamwork in the management of sport and leisure facilities. The judging panel were impressed by Huia Pool's ability to punch above its weight, regularly outperforming larger and newer facilities in other cities.
"The staff and management are to be commended on providing a high class community recreation facility which is flexible in design and provides a wide variety of quality programmes for its customers."
