Wainuiomata Trail Project

All 491 metres of this four season alternative line are open for fun riding. Please slow for walkers and exercise caution on the 'yet to be perfected' sections of "491".

Round 2 of the Penny Farthing PNP MTB Series will use this new trail, so riders we need you.
Meet at 9:30am at the gate on the summit of Wainuiomata hill road or come along and find us on the new section of trail at the 2nd pylon.
From the summit of Wainuiomata, walk or ride north and go right at second pylon.
Tools and gloves are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
We'll provide some morning tea, some of which will even be healthy food.

All of the new tracks in the developing mountain bike park, based at the Waiu St Reserve, are hand-crafted by volunteers.
The vision, passion, sweat and commitment of the riders have made this project possible. Local residents are enjoying the new tracks because they are so beautiful, easy and well-graded for walking and running.
Hutt City Council Reserves Manger Chris Close says Hutt City is incredibly fortunate to have amazingly rich biodiversity just over the back fence. The trail project makes this experience accessible and gifts it to local people and visitors alike.
“We count ourselves lucky to have such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and co-operative group of volunteers in the Wainuiomata Trail Project team”.
