Hutt City Council

Hutt City Council Archives

The Archives holds the historic memory of the Council – from the earliest beginnings of predecessor authorities such as Petone Borough Council, the Lower Hutt Town Board, Eastbourne Borough Council and the Wainuiomata district of Hutt County Council to video footage of the storms in February 2004.

To get a taste of what the Archives can offer, look at the featured archives page. This is a series of items highlighting interesting, unusual or just plain typical examples of the holdings of Hutt City Council Archives.

We also hold the records of some businesses, organisations and schools such as the East Harbour Environmental Association and Petone Central School.

Most of the records are written but we also hold photographs, such as the construction of the Wainuiomata Hill Road; films, such as the flooding of Stokes Valley in 1976; and maps and plans.
