Hutt City Council Archives
The Archives holds the historic memory of the Council – from the earliest beginnings of predecessor authorities such as Petone Town Board, Hutt Town Board, Eastbourne Borough Council, Hutt County Council, and the Wainuiomata Riding.
To get a taste of what the Archives can offer, look at the featured archives page. This is a series of items highlighting interesting, unusual or just plain typical examples of the holdings of Hutt City Council Archives.
We also hold the records of some businesses, organisations and schools such as the East Harbour Environmental Association and Petone Central School.
In addition to Council text based archival records we also hold photographs - such as the construction of the Wainuiomata Hill Road and Melling Bridge - and maps and plans.
