The Language Centre at Weltec caters for both international students and permanent residents who need to learn english. There are a variety of programmes from general English, English for Academic Purposes, Preparation for Tertiary Study to Preparation for IELTS.

Naenae College run part time courses for new settlers wishing to improve their communication skills. Courses begin in February and run for the duration of normal school year. Courses run from 10.00am-12.00noon and 1.00pm-3.00pm.

The Wellington Business School is located in the central commercial area of Lower Hutt and is only five minutes walking distance from the biggest shopping mall (Westfield Shopping Centre) in Wellington.

English Language Partners can help you learn English if it is not your first language. Priority is given to people who can't go to any other language class. They also have information about settling in your local community. The teachers are English speakers who have trained with the English Language Partners. They are volunteers who are interested in helping people settle into New Zealand and who want to learn about other cultures. The service provides a one-hour lesson, once a week, in your home. The home tutor will visit you there. They also provide Social English Classes, ESOL Literacy Classes and Learner Driver’s Licence Classes.
