RMS is the agency which helps refugees to resettle in their new communities.  They provide practical support for refugees once they arrive in New Zealand.   RMS operates a unique programme which trains volunteers to work alongside quota refugees as they begin to settle into their new communities. The Lower Hutt office is located at Te Awa Kairangi Community Resource Centre, corner of Laings Rd and Myrtle St.

Refugees As Survivors (RAS)

5th Floor 61-63 Taranaki St Wellington.  http://www.wellington-ras.org.nz
The main mission of the centre is to provide refugees and migrants who have experience of torture and trauma with access to appropriate mental health services, in order to lessen the negative impact of these events on their lives and therefore assist in their resettlement and adjustment within New Zealand.

Refugees As Survivors provides mental health services for refugees and migrants.  You may want to talk in confidence to someone who has an understanding of the issues involved in the refugee and exile experience.  They also offer support and information for people resettling in New Zealand.
