Nominations are now being sought for the Wellington regional Airport Awards. These awards recognise volunteer/not-for profit organisations in the Hutt City.

Every person that nominates an organisation will be entered into the draw for a chance to win 1 of 2 $100 vochers for a Hutt City store of your choice. It's easy all you have to do is fill in the nomination form and send it back.

Nominations can be printed out and sent to PO Box 31912 Lower Hutt or email Candy Murison at candy.murison@huttcity.govt.nz for an email version that can be filled in online.

Guidelines for Nominations

Wellington International Airport Limited, in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington, and the five local authorities in the area have joined together to recognise the voluntary work carried out in the Wellington region.

The focus of the Awards is to ensure the wider community is aware of the voluntary work undertaken and to recognise and provide some reward for the valuable contributions made by volunteers and their organisations.

Eligibility

1. Any not-for-profit group or organisation working in the interests of the community can be nominated.
2. An individual may nominate an organisation of which they are a member.
3. The Awards are designed to recognise past achievements.
4. Commercial organisations are excluded, but this does not exclude groups who have used professionals to support the delivery of services undertaken by volunteers.

Criteria

Key factors considered during judging are:

  • Volunteer input
  • Utilisation of resources
  • Initiative and creativity
  • Effectiveness of activities
  • Impact of the activity on the local area or district.

    Categories

    Nominations to be submitted under one of the following categories:

    A) Heritage & Environment
    Improvement or revitalising of the environment, culture or heritage.

    B) Health & Wellbeing
    Provide services which enhance the social well being of people.

    C) Arts & Culture
    Enhance and increase participation in arts and creative leisure activities.

    D) Sport & Leisure
    Increase participation and enjoyment in physical sport, leisure activities and recreational pursuits.

    E) Educational & Child/Youth Development
    Improve and enhance the educational and social development of children and youth.

    Note: If in the view of judges a nomination meets the criteria for consideration under another category, the judges reserve the right to transfer the nomination to that category.

    Winners

    A judging panel in each of the five local authority areas will select category winners who will receive $500 and a certificate. From these category winners, one overall winner for that area will also be selected, receiving an additional $500 and certificate. These awards will be announced and presented at functions hosted by the local Mayor.
