Application for a Liquor Licence

The Council is responsible for the issuing of liquor licences in terms of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989. A licence is required whenever liquor is sold to the public.

The Council is designated as a District Licencing Agency for the purposes of the Sale of Liquor Act and is able to approve unopposed on, off and club licence applications as well as special licences.

 

Applications for liquor licences must be made to the Council on prescribed forms which are available from the Council or click here to download forms from this website, or you can Email Us and request application forms to be posted to your mailing address. Please note that all liquor licence applications & supporting documentation to be received in triplicate.

For Customer Call Centre and Main Administration Building, Monday to Friday (except public holidays) from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Target Response Times

• Applications for a special liquor licence are processed within 10 working days
  
• Other applications are processed within 30 days from receipt of a completed application form.
