Environmental Consents - Building Consent

Environmental Consents Division manages matters relating to buildings as required by the Building Act 2004, Building Regulations 1992 and administers the New Zealand Building Code. It provides a customer service where property owners can visit and discuss matters relating to buildings and building work.

A formal application for a Building Consent (BC) is necessary before undertaking building work. A Project Information Memorandum (PIM) relates to information to be aware of prior to undertaking building work and is required for each project. This may be applied for prior to the Building Consent or at the same time.
