Getting Prepared

By taking some simple steps, you can make sure you, your family, and your workplace are prepared for an emergency.

In a disaster situation, you need to be prepared to cope on your own for at least three days, and to manage without services like water, power and gas, and communications.

Getting prepared is simple.  You need to have:

Emergency preparedness tools and checklists

Register on Readynet

Your business, school, community or neighbourhood group can record information on our emergency preparedness network Readynet.  This information will be shared with the 111 call centres and the Hutt Valley emergency operations centre.  We also use the network to send information and alerts to you via text message and email.
