Small Grants Fund

The Small Grants Fund has been established by Hutt City Council to help not-for-profit organisations based in Hutt City

Support from this fund is for costs involved in building capacity such as governance or staff training costs and developing a business plan. Funding is also avaiable for volunteer costs and contributions to operational costs which will improve access to and administration/management of not-for-profit organisations.

Applications are considered on a on-going basis for one-off grants up to a maximum of $5000 per application per year. 

Criteria

Applications must meet the following criteria:

  • The maximum amount of funding any organisation or group may apply for in one year is $5000
  • The organisation or group must be based in Hutt City and/or be of benefit to the Hutt City Community.

Priorities

The following priorities have been identified for funding from the Small Grants Fund. Organisations or groups providing services that:

  • Primarily assist with the development of economically or socially disadvantaged groups partically Maori, Pacific people, refegees and migrants, elderly, beneficiaries and disabled people.
  • Operate in areas with high deprivation levels which include Naenae, Wainuiomata, Pomare, Taita, and pockets in Stokes Valley, Petone and Moera.
  • Meet the needs of young people, and their families, to assist them to develop their full potential through provision of intervention programmes, initiatives and activities. This also includes parental education programmes and youth development initiatives.
  • Encourage the use of or improve access to community facilities enabling community groups to have a focal point for assistance, support, networking and capacity building opportunities.
  • Encourage growth and connection within and across communities.

Eligible Purposes

Funding may be granted for the following costs associated with capacity building projects or programmes within the organisation:

  • Staff  training and development.
  • Governance training and development
  • Implementing new or improved office systems such as a new financial management system or software programmes.
  • Developing business plans, budgets.
  • Developing policies and procedures for the operation of the organisation or group.
  • Volunteer costs.
  • Contribution to organisational running costs such as power, rent or phone.
