Graffiti

Graffiti in Hutt City was highlighted as a serious concern to residents of the city during consultation on the Community Plan 2005 - 2015. Council has responded to these concerns by establishing a free graffiti removal service available to property owners in the city.

This service is provided by our authorised contractor SB Maintenance Limited.

It is generally accepted best practice to remove any graffiti as quickly as possible to deny the perpetrator the satisfaction of seeing their individual tag on display and to discourage recurrence of tagging. To do this, we need your help.

 

Reporting Graffiti

You can report graffiti by telephone, email, fax, Fixagram, or in person.

If you are reporting graffiti on Council owned/managed properties, our contractor already has "blanket permission" to remove the tags.

For our contractor to remove graffiti from private property we must first obtain a signed permission form (PDF 39kb) from either the property owner, or the owner's authorised agent. Please note that this legal requirement can cause delays.

If your property is tagged, as the owner you can download the permission form (PDF 39kb) and drop off, post, or fax the fully competed and signed form back to us.
We encourage you to tick the "blanket permission" box.

 

Hours Available

The Customer Call Centre, the Service Centre at the Main Administration Building is available Monday to Friday (except public holidays) from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. You can also ring Council's After Hours Emergency Number to provide detailed information on the location of graffiti, but the call can not be logged until the next business day.
