Get fit at the new Stokes Valley Fitness Suite

The new Leisure Active Fitness Suite is ideal for anyone looking to get fit, shed kilos or just work up a sweat.

Located at Stokes Valley Pool, the fitness suite is a multi-purpose community gym where people can work out on the latest equipment or use the heated pool in a friendly, relaxed environment.

It follows on from Hutt City Council’s successful Leisure Active Fitness Suite in Naenae and Mayor David Ogden is excited to be bringing the concept to Stokes Valley.

“We’re committed to improving the wellbeing of people in our community and with low cost memberships our fitness suites make it easy for people to improve their fitness, health and quality of life.

“Our fitness suite motto is ‘believe, begin, become’ and I hope Stokes Valley residents will take up the challenge,” he says.

The pool is hosting an open day on Saturday 7 November for people to view the fitness suite with free entry to the pool from 11am to 2pm. There’ll be a sausage sizzle, face painting and bouncy castle.

Membership to the fitness suite includes free use of the spa and sauna at Stokes Valley Pool, free entry to any of Hutt City Council’s six swimming pools and free aquarobics classes.

As a special offer there’s also no joining fee this November and all new members signed up before 30 November 2009 will go in the draw to win a lifetime membership worth more than $20,000.

HUTT CITY’S “swim-gym” facility combines the benefits of an indoor heated pool with the latest exercise equipment.

The Leisure Active Fitness Suite, owned and operated by Hutt City Council, opened at the Naenae swimming pool complex on Saturday July 26, 2008.

With an impressive array of brand-new fiitness equipment, including state-of-the-art resistance training machines, Life Fitness cardiovascular gear and free weights, new wide-screen television screens mounted on the walls with Sky.

Membership includes use of not only the Fitness Suite and Naenae pool, but also free entry to any of the other five Hutt City Council pools.

All staff members are trained in exercise science and are available to help members with any of the equipment. New members get an opportunity to participate in a full induction programme.

We also have free Circuit training, Pilates and Swiss ball classes, and offer personal training for those who want to get a bit more out of their exercise.
The Leisure Active Fitness Suite is a great facility for the community and while it is owned by the city council, it costs ratepayers nothing. “It pays for itself.”
