Dog owners are entitled to exercise dogs off the lead in dog exercise areas (map PDF 150kb), although dog owners are required by law to still carry a leash while their dog runs free. The dog must be kept under continuous supervision and control at all times.

If a dog defecates in a public place, the person having the control of the dog must immediately remove the faeces. Read Pooh corner here.

Dog pooh bags are available free of charge to all dog owners from all Council Service Centres and libraries, and at the Animal Services Centre, 21 Meachen Street, Seaview. These are provided by Animal Services for dog owners to assist with the picking up of dog droppings. Normal rubbish bins may be used for the disposal of dog droppings contained in plastic bags.
