Hutt City Council is required to make its Rating Information Database available for public inspection.
The Council has done this by way of the Property Enquiry System on this site. While the Property Enquiry System includes full information about the property and how it is rated, it does not include the name or postal address of the owner.
The Local Government (Rating) Act allows the names and postal addresses of property owners to be publicly available, unless a specific request is made for details to be withheld. This information is not however made available on this website. If you wish to find out the name and postal address of a property owner, this is available (unless specifically withheld) by calling in person at the Council's Main Administration Building, 30 Laings Road, Lower Hutt.
If you require your name and postal address to be withheld from the public rating information you must make the request in writing. You will need to provide details of each property for which you would like your details withheld. Please note, where there is more than one owner for a property, all owner details for that property will be withheld even if only one of the owners has requested the withholding of information.
You can change your option at anytime by writing to Hutt City Council at the address below. Any change may take up to one month to take effect.
Property owner details will still be publicly available as part of a property's certificate of title information available at Land Information NZ
