ANZAC Day is held on the 25 April. It is observed in New Zealand as a day of commemoration for those who died in the service of their country and to honour returned servicemen and women (http://www.rsa.org.nz).
The Dawn Service in Lower Hutt is held at the Cenotaph, adjacent to the Lower Hutt Memorial Library, Riddiford Gardens, Queens Drive, Lower Hutt.
The service begins wtih a short parade of the returning servicemen and women. This parade
gives them pride of place, while family members and members of the community gather around the cenotaph. This is where prayers and readings are read.
The Civic Service and the laying of wreaths takes place at 9.30am, at the Centotaph. The wreaths are layed in memory of all the New Zelanders who have served and died in past wars.
