Hutt City Council

Citizenship Ceremonies

These Ceremonies are organised for people residing in the Hutt Valley who want to become New Zealand citizens.

The Department of Internal Affairs coordinate all aspects of who can apply, the proceedings and all correspondance for each person or family group wanting citizenship.

Hutt City Council hosts the official ceremony, where people undertake the "swearing in" process. In acknowledgement of this, the Mayor presents them with their official Citizenship Certificate, a plant in celebration and light refreshments. These are held in the Lower Hutt Town Hall on a quarterly basis.

Queries regarding the Department of Internal Affairs side of things are to contact Mrs Rose Kele 382 3414.

Queries regarding the actual Ceremony are to contact Catrina Millar, Mayoral Office, Hutt City Council on 570 6846.
