Mayor congratulates local businesses on Gold Awards success

Friday, May 02, 2008

Hutt City Mayor David Ogden today congratulated local businesses that were nominated for and those that have won Gold Awards for business excellence.

Ten Hutt City businesses in nine categories were up for awards at last night’s black-tie ceremony in Wellington, with the winners being TheNewDowse and Dulux NZ.

“This is a fantastic result and reflects the strength and diversity of talent to be found within the business community of Hutt City.

“In addition to traditional industries such as manufacturing, Hutt City is home to leading companies in the fields of science, technology, hospitality, entertainment and education.

“They all contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of the city by providing jobs for our residents and contributing to the quality of life we enjoy.

“Success at the Gold Awards caps a great few weeks for Hutt City with the Council being recognised at the Vero Business Awards for its support of local business, and the release of new figures showing the economy continues to experience strong growth.

“On behalf of the Council, I congratulate Hutt City businesses recognised at the Gold Awards,” Mayor Ogden said.
