What do Justices of the Peace do?
A Justice of the Peace (JP) can:
- witness signatures
- certify documents
- witness land transfer and other documents
- take declarations, affidavits or affirmations.
Visit a JP at our libraries
Go to the Hutt City Libraries website to see when you can visit a JP at your local library.
Find a JP near you
If these times or locations don't suit, you can search for a JP through the Royal Federation of NZ Justices' Association (Royal Federation).
Once you've found a JP you'd like to visit, you will need to call them first to make an appointment.
The Royal Federation website has a checklist for visiting a JP. The checklist has information about what you will need to bring depending on what services you need.
