Hutt City Council is reminding residents that further submissions on Proposed Plan Change 12 – Amendments to Residential Provisions and Financial Contributions Chapter close on Friday 19 June.
More than 150 submissions were received in the initial round of consultation that finished in March. These submissions were publicly notified in mid May to allow for further submissions.
Councillor Roger Styles, chair of the District Plan Committee, says the submissions received covered a range of areas.
“A number of submitters focused on the proposal to extend existing higher density residential areas to include residential sites around shopping centres and transport routes. Higher density areas allow for smaller individual site sizes, 300m2 instead of the usual 400m2, and encourage multi unit housing.
“Submitters also commented on the proposed new rules for multi-unit developments, which would increase the range of housing options available to our changing population. With a growing elderly population and smaller family sizes there is an increasing demand for smaller houses and less property to look after.
“These are important changes to our district plan and we’re encouraging all Hutt residents to have their say.”
A summary of the submissions and submission forms are available on our website at www.huttcity.govt.nz, at any Hutt City library, and at the main administration building in Laings Road. Further submissions close at 5pm on Friday 19 June 2009.
