Hutt City set for spring clean

Thursday, September 03, 2009

Winter’s over and it’s time to roll up our sleeves and give Hutt City a spring clean.

Clean Up Week has started and Mayor David Ogden is encouraging locals to show their pride for the city and get involved.

“The aim of Clean Up Week is to motivate everyone in the community to take action in making our city a cleaner, healthier place to live,” he says.

Individuals, groups and schools can register with Hutt City Council to be part of the week-long tidy up.

“We’ve made it easy for people to participate. They just need to choose an area of the city they think needs a spruce –up and send in their registration form.

“We’ll then provide litter clean up bags and disposable gloves and will collect the filled bags when they’ve finished,” says Mayor Ogden.

Hutt City Council will also have a Clean Up Week display at Westfield Queensgate on Thursday 10 September where 10 EnviroFlexiNets (recycling bin covers) and other prizes will be given away.
