Outfall pipeline repair progressing well

City Infrastructure General Manager Bruce Sherlock says work is progressing well on repairs to the main outfall pipeline using the new internal joint seal technique.

"The technique is allowing us to repair each leak in two to three hours with minimal disruption to residents and traffic.

“Where the repair is at a low point in the pipe, any water that has pooled is being pumped out at the discharge point before the repair is undertaken.   Signs will be in place at the discharge point for 48 hours after any discharge. As a safeguard the public are advised not to swim or collect shellfish within the vicinity of the discharge points while signs are in place.”
