Pomare Cyclist Training
Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Pomare Community House has been delivering a 'Bike Safety Project' in their local community. The aim of this project is to promote and encourage the use of safety helmets, road safety and riding safely in children aged 5-14 years old. It also hopes to promote and encourage regular maintenance and safety checks on bicycles.
A need was identified in the local community with many children owning and using bicycles but not wearing helmets.
The programme is running over five weeks and inlcudes a Road Safety talk from the Taita community constable, maintenance checks by a cycle mechanic, road rules demonstration, a bike ride to Avalon park and a prize giving ceremony.
