| HUTT CITY COUNCIL is systematically reviewing land it owns and manages as part of its reserve network.
The review is aimed at determining the best use of the land for the future, including possible disposal. The review is being undertaken ward by ward.
The council most recently considered its land holdings in the Western Hills. It is now consulting on a proposal to retain and classify as reserve about 80 properties, and to dispose of six properties (or part) as shown here. Those six – shown shaded in the adjoining aerial photographs – include the former Otonga School sports ground in Maungaraki and land at the corner of Poto and Normandale Roads.
Parks & Gardens Divisional Manager Bruce Hodgins says people will have six weeks to respond to the proposal.
“We are keen to hear from people or organisations that have a view on the future of this land,” Bruce says. “To help us we have contacted local resident organisations and sent letters to property owners with adjoining land being considered for disposal.”
Submissions must be received by Wednesday, June 18. Further details on the proposal are on the council’s website – www.huttcity.govt.nz – or by contacting Bruce at 570-6839.
