Road safety – be on the look-out for cyclists

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Did you know that 15% of all cyclist crashes in the Wellington region are caused by motorists who open their doors without looking? As part of our ongoing road safety campaign Hutt City Council employees are leading the way in road safety by placing in all Council vehicles a sticker that reminds the driver and passenger to “Stop and look for cyclists” before opening their car door.

Stickers are also available for the public either from Hutt City Council Road Safety coordinator, Anna Blomquist (5706730) or bike shops throughout Lower Hutt

This is a joint project between Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City and Kapiti Coast councils.
