Hutt City Economy

Hutt City is located within the Wellington Region, and is the second largest city in the region. Lower Hutt is home to a sizeable manufacturing sector, and has a good deal of supporting industry, including road distribution companies.

Economic growth was estimated at 6.4% over the year to March 2000, whilst the population fell by an estimated 0.3% to 97,800. Full details on the Hutt City economy can be found in Wellington Regional Economy 2003.

The Economic Development Strategy for Hutt City was signed off by Council in July 2002.
