What is this project about?
What goes down the stormwater drain ends up in the sea via our streams and rivers. It's therefore important to keep rubbish, litter and contaminants like engine oil and paint off the roads and out of the stormwater drains.
Reminder plaques are placed next to the stormwater drains all over the city to raise awareness about this issue and encourage proper disposal of packaging, drink bottles and other waste.
Council has a large number of plaques available and is inviting individuals or community groups to help with installing them. We provide all the supplies and tools needed and will also pay you $1 per installed plaque. So you can do your bit for the environment and raise some funds for your community group at the same time.
