Keep Lower Hutt Beautiful are a non-profit group supported by Council with a vision to reduce litter and pollution in our city. Council has worked closely with Keep Lower Hutt Beautiful since it started in September 1991.
Keep Lower Hutt Beautiful has initiated many programmes and projects for the benefit of the city including:
- Paint out and mural projects
- "Paint Hutt City Beautiful Week", established before it was "picked up" by Keep New Zealand Beautiful through its "Wall Worthy" mural competition
- One-stop shop graffiti eradication programme
- Beach clean-ups
- "Tidiest Schools" competition
Annual Clean-Up Week
The purpose of this event is to draw attention to litter appearing around our communities and discourage people from littering.
Clean-Up Week runs every spring. We invite you to join in and make a difference for your local area!
How you can get involved
Whether you're an individual or family, whether you've got a little time or a lot, there's always something you can do to keep New Zealand beautiful.
