Read moreWe're offering dog owners the option of purchasing a Doggone SMART Bluetooth registration dog tag for 2020/2021.
Since last year, the Doggone service has successfully reunited 624 dogs in the Lower Hutt region with their families.
Doggone uses technology to help reunite a lost dog with its owner.
The Doggone smart tag is an official Council registration tag. The tag has your dog’s Council registration number printed on it, and it is the same colour as the traditional disc and loop tags to show that your dog is registered for 2020/21.
The Doggone tag uses Bluetooth and connects with the free Doggone app so you can receive location sightings of your dog. It links with Doggone’s free 4133-text service, so if someone finds your dog they have a way of letting you know.
Simply create your dog’s profile in the app and it will link with the Doggone registration tag. If your dog goes missing you can mark it as ‘missing’ in the app and you’ll receive location sightings for your dog whenever it comes within 60 metres of a phone with the Doggone app installed.
If someone finds your dog, they can simply text the dog’s registration number to 4133 for free to receive your emergency phone number. Both the text number and Doggone’s 0800 customer service number are printed on the Doggone tag.
Doggone costs $33 (inclusive of GST) for the full 2020/21 registration year. The Doggone app and text service are free.
You can upgrade from a traditional disc or loop tag to a Doggone registration tag at any time up until 30 June 2021.
If you would like a Doggone registration tag for your dog, just tick the 'Doggone registration tag' box when completing your 2020/2021 dog registration form - payment is due at the time of registration.
Once you've paid your invoice, you will receive your new Doggone registration tag along with a Quick Start Guide to help get you set up.
The Doggone app is compatible with iPhone and Android devices. The Virtual ID profile you create for your dog on the app is password protected. Doggone complies with NZ privacy law.
