You have the right to access your personal information and request we correct it.
Personal information provided to Council may be used and disclosed in the following ways:
- to enable Council to communicate with you; or
- to enable Council or a third party to provide you with advice and information concerning products and services that Council believes may be of interest to you; or
- to enable Council to administer and maintain its records and carry out its functions.
Please be aware that consenting documentation such as resource and building consents, and information associated with these, will be available online for public access as this is public information. This will include personal information on consenting documents and submissions. Personal information collected by Council will be held by Council. It is accessible to staff who have a legitimate reason to access it. Council has a code of conduct where unauthorised disclosure of confidential information or records is considered misconduct.
Council manages its records in accordance with the provisions of the Public Records Act, which includes the authorised destruction of records once they are no longer required to be kept for legislative compliance or business purposes. Information is not retained for longer than necessary, and is retained on a permanent basis only where this is required by law.
