In an emergency the sirens will sound continuously to alert you to the potential of serious flooding or other incidents like chemical leaks in Lower Hutt. Civil Defence Sirens are not used for tsunami warnings.

All of New Zealand is at risk of earthquakes and all of our coastline is at risk of tsunami. We can’t predict when they will happen, but we can protect ourselves and our family.
