Hutt City Mayor Ray Wallace, Deputy Mayor David Bassett and Chief Executive Tony Stallinger presented the Alternative Application to Reorganise the Wellington and Wairarapa Regions to the Local Government Commission on Thursday 15 August 2013.
The application calls for an enhanced status quo that maintains current boundaries but merges the region's transport and water management under a jointly owned business; or four unitary authorities and regional transport and water management.
The Commission will consider the applications from local authorities across the Wellington region before forming a proposal for consultation with the community.
