During October, Council ran a survey asking people what they thought about dog owners being able to walk their dog on a lead in Avalon Park. Currently, dog owners aren’t able to do this in Avalon Park with one exception – an area at the northern end where people are able to walk their dogs on a lead.
The survey results provide an interesting insight in to what people think – both those who think it is a good idea to let people walk their dog on a lead in Avalon Park and those who don’t.
The majority of people (62 per cent) supported dogs in Avalon Park – the key message is that dogs must be on a lead.
Those people (35 per cent) who didn’t support dogs in Avalon Park had two key messages – there are plenty of other places for people to exercise their dogs, and that dog poo not being picked up was a big issue in an area where there were lots of people, especially children.
Here are the complete Dogs in Avalon Park survey results (PDF 2mb) including the comments from both those who support and those who don’t support the proposition that dog owners should be able to walk their dog on a lead in Avalon Park.
