“We’re experiencing significant population changes and we need to address the increasing demand for different types of housing,” says Mayor Wallace.
“We need to provide families, the elderly and all of our most vulnerable residents, quality homes which suit their needs.
“Our residents need safe, attractive and affordable housing opportunities. They need warm, healthy, dry homes.”

In order to encourage growth, Hutt City Council has committed to providing incentives to developers.

“This is just one of the areas that we’re focussing on in order to realise our vision to rejuvenate Lower Hutt and make sure it continues to be a great place to live.
“Residential growth coupled with smart investment in recreation and community facilities is making a real difference to our city. We’re on a roll – it’s an exciting time to live in Lower Hutt.”
