This week, contractors are line marking, installing parking ticket machines and putting up signs and poles in Laings Road and the new Riddiford Garden Car Park.
Changes include a new loading zone, four new mobility car parks, three free 15-minute car parks in front of the popular aquifer water taps and a new Pay and Display car park (pictured) to the east of the Events Centre.
This work will be completed by Friday 17th August and parking wardens will begin enforcement on Monday 20 August.
Overview of changes to parking in the Civic Precinct
New Riddiford Garden Car Park
The new Riddiford Garden Car Park will be managed as all-day Pay and Display starting Monday 20th August. The charge is $6 per day and there is space for approximately 42 cars, four of these being mobility parks, as well as four car parks for Events Centre management.
Two free one-hour permanent mobility parks have been created near the clock tower. There will be four all-day Pay and Display mobility parks in the new Riddiford Garden Car Park. The two mobility car parks near the western entrance to the Administration Building will be converted to three 15-minute general car parks.
Additional Car Parks
More car parks will be constructed on the south side of Laings Road between the Myrtle Street and the entry to the Riddiford Garden Car Park. They will be set up as two-hour Pay and Display car parks and will be ready for use (and enforcement) in September.
A new Loading Zone has been created outside the Events Centre and this may be used by drivers of vehicles (including private vehicles and buses) who are actively loading or unloading goods and people. No vehicles may be left unattended in this zone.
There will be three free 15-minute car parks near the aquifer taps on the north side of Laings Road.
