Work on a 1.7 kilometre stretch of land between Manor Park Golf Sanctuary and the rail line, running from York Avenue to the Silverstream Rail Bridge, began on 1 September and is due to be completed by December 2021.
What it looks like.
How the community benefits
Hutt City has a great natural environment and the evolving network of cycleways and shared paths is being developed to reduce emissions and traffic congestion, and provide safe and efficient connections across the city for walkers and cyclists.
The Manor Park Shared Path will extend the Hutt River Trail and create a link to the Remutaka Cycle Trail.
This project is jointly funded by Waka Kotahi, Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
The project is being led by Hutt City Council alongside KiwiRail, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
