Civic Honours postponed for 2020
Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our Civic Honour Awards until 2021.
COVID-19 has disrupted the workflow of many this year, including Council staff. As a result of lockdown, our focus shifted to other areas of concern as we worked through our response and recovery efforts to aid the people of Lower Hutt.
Despite the postponement, we look forward to opening nominations in the new year to celebrate those in the community who have gone above and beyond for others.
If you made a nomination for this year's awards we'll contact you with the option of including them in next year’s nomination process.

About the Civic Awards
The Civic Awards acknowledge people who have volunteered their time to services that benefit residents or organisations in Lower Hutt.
Recipients receive a certificate and silver medal presented to them by the Mayor at Lower Hutt’s Volunteer Awards celebration.
There are two types of Civic Awards:
- Community Services (Civic Honour): recognising outstanding, long-term voluntary community service
- Youth Services: recognising outstanding voluntary community service from those aged 15-25.
