Cafe Scientifique - Does NZ have a future in nanotech?

Thursday 28 June 6pm - 7.30pm

Victoria University chemist, Dr John Watt, host of TVNZ’s “Ever Wondered” series, gives an overview of what nanotechnology is and why he finds it exciting to study.

Nanotechnology is the study of the very, very small. By definition a nanometre is one billionth of a metre, which is about 50 000 times thinner than the width of a human hair.

Dr Watt will explain some of the work being carried out at Victoria University of Wellington and the MacDiarmid Institute, its possible applications and how New Zealand can harness nanotechnology for the future.
