The safety of your child on holiday programmes
The safety and wellbeing of your child is important to us, so it’s also important that we ask you to take note of our policies and make sure your child has everything they need on the day.
What does my child need to bring to the programme?
Your child needs:
- Lunch
- Snacks
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Sensible shoes, hat and jacket
- Togs and towel
Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for outdoor activities. If it rains, we may go swimming at a council swimming pool (Gracefield, Belmont and Hutt Recreation ground programmes only), so please ensure your child has togs and a towel.
Don’t let your child bring valuables! We can’t accept responsibility for lost or damaged belongings.
No exceptions policy
Hutt City Holiday Programme has a ‘No Exceptions’ inclusive policy towards children experiencing disability. Where possible, we try to accommodate and make our activities inclusive for all abilities.
Halberg Trust Activity Funding may cover some of the extra costs if a disabled child needs to bring a support person to help them participate in the programme. For more information visit www.halberg.co.nz.
What else do I need to know?
- Planned activities for the programme may change on the day due to unforeseen reasons. If the new activity for the day has age, height or weight restrictions, your child won’t be able to participate if they don’t meet the standard. The programme fee will stay the same if alternative activities are organised.
- Bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received.
- All medication should be collected and recorded by the programme supervisor and signed by the parent/caregiver on the medicine consent form each day.
- Children who are unwell will not be permitted to attend the programme. This also applies to children who have head lice.
- Please clearly name your child’s belongings. Items that aren’t claimed after 14 days will be donated to charity.
- Children may be dropped off and picked up between the times given for each programme. A sign in/sign out sheet must be signed for each child every day. We are not responsible for children once they have been signed out of the programme.
- A late pickup fee of $15 will be charged for late pickup between 15 and 30 minutes after the programme end time. A further $5 will be charged for every 15 minutes (or part thereof) that the pickup is late. An invoice will be sent and non-payment will affect future bookings.
- We have a number of policies relating to the operation of our school holiday programmes. You can view a copy of the policy manual at our programme venues. Our staff must not be asked to compromise our policies.
- The holiday programme has been approved under the CYF OSCAR Standards. All care will be taken to provide safe and well-supervised environments for children attending our programmes, in accordance with these standards.
