Community organisations make a huge contribution to the wellbeing of our city and our people. To help continue this great work we provide funding through a number of funding schemes.

This funding is to help owners in preserving, restoring, and protecting the heritage values of their buildings or structures.

Community arts and culture fund

This funding is for non-profit groups providing arts and cultural services and programmes to the community.

This is for non-profit groups providing arts, cultural and social services to the community. 

Community engagement fund

This is for local activities and events that directly benefit the communities concerned.  This fund has now closed.

We provide funding for one-off local community-driven events to enhance community participation and social cohesion.  This fund is open all year round.    

Creative Communities fund

Creative Communities fund

This is for individuals or groups who want to start a project involving any kind of creative or interpretative expression.  Funding is provided by Creative New Zealand.

Hutt Minoh House Friendship Trust awards grants to projects that contribute to the promotion of Japanese culture.

We provide major events funding to help deliver events that bring people to our city, provide economic gains and create vitality within our region.

Scholarships

Scholarships

We contribute $10,000 towards three scholarships that are awarded annually to support secondary school and tertiary students. 

Small grants fund

Small grants fund

This helps non-profit groups meet costs of up to $1,000 a year for such expenses as staff and management training and preparing business plans.  This fund is open all year round.
