Funds can be used for operating, programme or project costs. Funding amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000.
This funding supports projects that:
- mainly help particular communities such as the elderly, Maori, Pacific Islanders, ethnic minorities, youth, victims of crime, people with disabilities, homeless people and unemployed people; and
- involve partnerships with others to ensure the most efficient use of the resources and prevent duplication of services.
What we fund
Funding of between $1,000 and $10,000 is available to help cover operational and administration costs such as
- employees’ salaries
- volunteers’ expenses
- telephone, power and rental bills
- and other operating costs specific to a programme/project
What we won’t fund
- Organisations already getting funding from any other council source (excluding rates rebates)
- Organisations whose primary focus is on environmental or sporting activities
- Organisations, such as schools and kindergartens, that receive significant government funding
- Organisations that plan to give funds to others at their own discretion
- Individuals
- Expenses already incurred
- Paying off debts
- Land, building, renovation or maintenance costs
- Capital equipment
Funding rules
Successful applicants must:
- use funds only for the approved purpose and in accordance with any terms and conditions imposed
- use funds within 10 months of receiving approval
- notify us immediately if any difficulty or potential difficulty arises that may compromise the service or project
- lay a complaint with police if any funds are stolen or misappropriated, and then notify us
- allow an audit on the use of the funds if we decide to undertake one
- recognise our support in all publicity material, annual reports and similar publications
- complete an accountability report outlining how the funds were used and the benefit to the community no later than six weeks after receiving the funds
Who can apply
Applicants must:
- have legal status as charitable trusts or incorporated societies authorised to receive or administer charitable funding
- be based in Hutt City and/or are primarily of benefit to the city
- provide services accessible to a wide range of people or the intended user group
- show how they will meet at least two of the community outcomes in the Long Term plan
