Small grants funding

The small grants fund is available for not-for-profit organisations in Hutt City. The fund provides help with costs involved with things like governance, staff training and developing your organisation’s business plan. We consider applications all year round to a maximum of $1000 per application.

Funding criteria and priorities – what we’re looking for

Find out if you fit our criteria and priorities for small grants funding.

What are our priorities?

We look to support organisations or groups that:

  • Primarily assist with the development of economically or socially disadvantaged groups, particularly Maori, Pacific people, refugees and migrants, elderly, beneficiaries and disabled people
  • Operate in areas with high deprivation levels, including Naenae, Wainuiomata, Pomare, Taita and pockets in Stokes Valley, Petone and Moera
  • Meet the needs of young people and their families to assist them in developing their full potential through intervention programmes, initiatives and activities – this also includes parental education programmes and youth development initiatives
  • Encourage the use of or improve access to community facilities, allowing community groups to have a focal point for assistance, support, networking and capacity building opportunities
  • Encourage growth and connection with and across communities

  • You need to inform the funding officer immediately if any difficulty or potential difficulties arise which may compromise the service or project

  • You need to recognise our support in all publicity material, annual reports and similar publications
  • You need to provide an accountability report outlining the use of the funds and the benefit to the community no later than 6 weeks after completion of your project/event.
