  • You should seek approval from the site owner/organiser together with District Plan compliance
  • Permits must be displayed or made available on the day of the event
  • All registrations expire on 30 June each year so make sure you renew your registration!

How long will it take?

Please ask us how long it is likely to take to process your application, as this can vary depending on your situation and requirements.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary between different types of registrations. Please see the fees and charges page.

We are required to levy an establishment fee for new premises, because setting up new premises may involve more inspection visits.

Exemptions from registration fee

Charitable organisations or fundraising groups may be exempted from the registration fee on condition their stall or mobile shop is for a special event. That is, they will trade at a specified event and will do so only once or twice per year.

Charitable organisations and fundraising groups will be required to comply with the conditions listed on the last page of Temporary food stall application form (PDF 289kb)

An application for a temporary food stall licence should be made to Council in writing within seven (7) working days prior to the special event, for Council to consider the application. The application should include the name and purpose of the organisation or group.

Upon receipt of the above information Council will then consider the application for an exemption from the registration fee.
