About the council

There are three elected community boards and four appointed community committees.

We have six committees of Council, two special committees of Council and a number of subcommittees and working groups. 

Hutt City Council is a shareholder in four companies. Three of these companies are ‘Council-controlled organisations’ under the Local Government Act 2002 as council owns 50% or more of the shareholding interests.

Youth Infusion, Hutt City’s youth council, provides advice to Hutt City Council on youth issues, contributes to youth activities and raises knowledge and awareness for the benefit of all youth in our community.
