Awards and ceremonies

ANZAC Day, 25 April, is observed in New Zealand as a day of commemoration for those who died in the service of their country and to honour returned servicemen and women.

We hold citizenship ceremonies for Hutt residents who have recently been granted New Zealand citizenship.

The annual civic awards acknowledge people who have volunteered their time to services that benefit residents or organisations in Hutt City.

Nominate a voluntary group for an award and recognise their outstanding contribution to the community.

The Mayoral Citation is for young people between the ages of 15 and 25 who have carried out outstanding youth leadership work.

We contribute $10,000 towards three scholarships that are awarded annually to support secondary school and tertiary students.
