The Wellingtonian of the Year Awards, now known as The Wellys are a celebration of the many great individuals across all sectors of the community.
Nominations close on Monday 26 September for submissions on people who have made a significant contribution to the Wellington region in the ninecategories: arts, business, sport, youth, government, community service, environment, science and technology and education.
Hutt City putting science and technology on the map
In 2009, our very own world-leading physicist and IRL Group Manager based in Gracefield, Dr Bob Buckley, took out the science and technology category. Last year world leader in nuclear magnetic resonance and nano-technology Sir Paul Callaghan also won the category.
Hutt City Council is sponsoring the science and technology category of the Wellingtonian of the Year Awards for the fourth year.
Sponsoring the category is a great way of supporting the growth of science and technology in Lower Hutt and across the region.
Finalists are announced on Monday 17 October and awards are presented on Thursday 17 November.
